Katie Holmes, actress and wife of Tom Cruise, has been confirmed as the newest face of Miu Miu's spring/summer 2009 campaign. Miss Holmes replaces Vanessa Paradis, French singer and actress, who fronted the autumn/winter 2008 campaign. Previous faces for past campaigns were Kirsten Dunst, Lindsay Lohan, model Laetitia Casta, and Chinese actress Zhou Xun.
The advert was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott which was supposed to depict “a luminous icon radiating a sense of mystery and theatricality.” The look was inspired by the films of Italian film director Federico Fellini.

The atmospheric color ads are also shot by Mert & Marcus and feature the actress against a blazing sky that the label says is meant to evoke “a certain Fellini-esque chaotic excess.”
The star shows her flair for the dramatic, put to excellent use in her recently-lauded Broadway turn, putting her outstretched hand to a flame.
And....not forgetting the previous gorgeous faces for Miu Miu.
